NOTICE TO NAVIGATION INTERESTS:

GUIDE WALL ARMOR REPAIR

HOWELL HEFLIN LOCK & DAM, RIVER MILE 266.1

TENNESSEE-TOMBIGBEE WATERWAY, GAINESVILLE, AL

Notice is given to mariners that maintenance contractors are on site repairing damaged guide wall armor along the upper approach long wall. All southbound tows that are 105’ and wider shall tie off and secure the bow of their tow before entering the work area. At this time, radio communication, instructions, and approval shall be made between boat captains and the lock operator prior to entering the lock. Work is expected to last approximately two weeks and is to be performed during daylight hours only.  Mariners may experience minor delays through the duration of the project. It is requested that all traffic communicate with Heflin Lock regarding lockages during this time.
